インテリジェントデザイン支持者たちによるインテリジェントデザインの定義について、見てみた。これらは、インテリジェントデザインの本山たる

の記載のコピペというわけではなく、思いが反映しているのか、少しつづ違っている。
The theory of intelligent design holds that certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection.
インテリジェントデザイン理論は、宇宙および生物のいくつかの特徴が、自然選択のような方向性のない過程ではなく、インテリジェントな原因によって最もよく説明されると考える。
「最もよく説明されると考える」のであって、「実際に理論で説明する」わけでないところが正直。
これに検出可能性を加えたのがインテリジェントデザインの神学と数学担当のDr. William Dembskiである。
Rather than trying to infer God’s existence or character from the natural world, it simply claims "that intelligent causes are necessary to explain the complex, information-rich structures of biology and that these causes are empirically detectable."
自然界から神の存在や特徴を推論するのではなく、複雑で情報に富んだ生物構造を説明するにはインテリジェントな原因が必要であり、これらの原因は経験的に検出可能であると主張する。
検出方法が"God of the gaps"なフィルタであることはご愛嬌だが。
大学にインテリジェントデザインを広めるIDEA CenterのFAQはほぼDembskiと同じポジションをとっている。

すなおに、"God of the gaps"を振りかざしている。こんなに明瞭に"God of the gaps"言うのは自爆だとわかっていない。あんまり、インテリジェントデザインをめぐる論争動向を知らないのだろう。
そして、さらに、Kansasのインテリジェントデザイン支持団体になると、かなり踏み込む。

意外と言うか、当然と言うべきか、もともと創造論の教科書として準備されていた、インテリジェントデザイン副読本"Of Pandas and People"は、創造論に近くなっている。
