An unusual antigen receptor protein structure is shared by camels and nurse sharks (Roux et al. 1998). This, and many other similarities, can't be explained by having a common ancestor.

  1. 収斂進化は、コウモリと鳥類の翼のような大きな構造で起きていることが、以前から知られている。Roux et al.[1998]は「分子レベルの収斂進化は広く起きていると考えられているが、あまり実証されていない。タンパク質もその例である。

    類似性は、進化論のもとで、遺伝や収斂や偶然で説明される。収斂では、類似した器官に対して、類似した選択圧がかかったと考える。そして、類似した構造の詳細部分の違いがあると考える。そして、まさしくここで我々は観察している。タンパク質をコーディングしているサメとラクダのDNAシーケンスは違っている[Roux et al. 1998]。
