In the pre-Flood earth, the vapor canopy, a translucent layer of water vapor above the atmosphere, caused a greenhouse effect that kept the climate moderate all over the planet, minimized winds and storms, and prevented rainfall.

Response:

1. 30cm以上の降水をもたらす上空蒸気層(Vapor Canopy)は地表気温を水の沸点以上にする[Morton 1979]。ほんの10cmの降水分でも地上気温を62℃に上昇させてしまう。幾人かの著名な創造論者はこの結論に同意しているが、いまもなお上空蒸気層(Vapor Canopy)が存在すると主張している創造論者がいる[Morton 2000]。
2. 全地球的洪水を起こすような上空蒸気層(Vapor Canopy)は、地上の気圧を15PSI(1気圧)から970PSI(65気圧)に上昇させる。
3. 一部の創造論者は上空蒸気層(Vapor Canopy)の問題を解決するために、Canopyを大気圏外の衛星軌道に移動させている。地球を周回する氷のCanopyは不安定である（土星のリングのような形でしか存在できない）。これらの氷の層が崩壊して洪水を起こす前は、気候をほんのわずか寒冷にするかもしれない。しかし、崩壊すると位置エネルギーを解放し、氷は過熱蒸気になり、洪水は起こせない。
