1. ひとつの大きな洪水が特有の特徴を残している:
- 広く、比較的浅い河床、深く曲がりくねっていない峡谷
- 合流した峡谷(網状河川系など)、単一ではない、よく発達した峡谷
- 峡谷河床の粗粒度のソートがあまりなされていない岩や砂利などの堆積物
- 巨大な波紋の後
- 流線型の孤立島
そのような特徴はChanneled Scablandsの局地スケール[McMullen 1998; Parfit 1995]や火星[NASA Quest n.d.]でも見られる。しかし、それらは全球現象には程遠い。
2. ほとんどすべての地球上の特徴は、プレートテクトニクスや氷河作用などの通常の地質学で説明できる。全地球的洪水には、いかなる例外的な現象についての説明にも出番がない。
