These are not sound examples—the Castenedolo skeletal material shows evidence of being an intrusive burial, i.e. a recent burial into older strata, since all the fossils apart from the human ones had time to be impregnated with salt. The Calaveras skull was probably a hoax planted into a mine by miners.

The australopithecines could not have been our ancestors, of course, if people were walking around before Lucy and her kin were fossilized—and there is evidence to suggest just that. Fossils of ordinary people in mid-Tertiary rock were found in Castenidolo, Italy, back in the late 1800’s, and the evolutionist Sir Arthur Keith recognized that accepting these “pre-ape” finds would shatter his belief in evolution (or at least its scientific support).

Talk Origins is using an out of date creationist reference: Their cited source is eight years more recent. Dr. Morris' source was a Readers Digest article from August 1973, and the error was made by that author, not Morris. It needs to be noted that these bones are not used any more. Most creationists have abandoned them in true scientific fashion as they have been found to be erroneous.
