Reductio ad Hitlerum
Reductio ad Hitlerumとは「アドルフ・ヒトラー（あるいはナチ、あるいはスターリン）がXを支持した。従って、Xは悪である。」という形式の詭弁である。「Xという悪を支持した、あるいはXという悪を行った」から「ヒトラーは悪である」というのは論理としては正しい。しかし、「ヒトラーがXを支持した、あるいはXを行った」から「Xは悪である」というのは詭弁である。しかし、この"Reductio ad Hitlerum"は詭弁だが、これが詭弁であるという理由で、「Xが悪ではない」あるいは「Xの支持者が悪でない」ことも証明できない。
University of ChicagoのLeo Strauss教授が1950年に自著"Natural Right and History"の第2章で述べたのが語源である。
Reductio ad Hitlerum, also argumentum ad Hitlerum, (Latin for "reduction to" and "argument to" and dog Latin for "Hitler" respectively) is a term coined by conservative philosopher Leo Strauss in 1951.[1] According to Strauss, the Reductio ad Hitlerum is an informal fallacy that consists of trying to refute an opponent's view by comparing it to a view that would be held by Adolf Hitler or the Nazi Party.

インテリジェントデザイン宣伝映画Expelled
自由思考＆自由市場を掲げる雑誌reason onlineなどは、インテリジェントデザイン宣伝映画Expelledがダーウィンをナチなどを同等扱いしているというレビュー記事を掲載した：
Stein and the film's producers maintain that belief in evolutionary biology makes societies more likely to succumb to totalitarianism. The flick is replete with grim black-and-white shots of Soviet armies, Nazi thugs, Stalin, Hitler, and concentration camps. The filmmakers portray opposition to teaching ID in universities and public schools as a threat to freedom on a par with Communist and Nazi repression. But ID proponents in the academy are not being dragged off to concentration camps by goose-stepping Darwinist thugs?the worst thing they suffer is the loss of their jobs. That's not fun, but it's not the gas chamber either.

Darwin’s theory of evolution is enmeshed in a worldview, Darwinism, that emerges clearly in The Origin of Species and, more so, in The Descent of Man. Hitler gave to Darwinism his own evil twist. Yet Hitler without Darwin’s influence, however indirect, would not have been the same Hitler we know from history. Without Darwin’s legacy to draw on, Hitler would have been compelled to frame his appeal to the German people in greatly altered terms.

Schloss’s critical review of EXPELLED, however, raised his opposition against ID to a new level and frankly upset me for what I perceived as its disingenuousness (the review appeared with official sanction of the American Scientific Affiliation [ASA] on its server here). By offering so many nuances and qualifications, his review missed the bigger picture that many ID propoents really are getting shafted. I confronted Jeff about this and we had an exchange of emails. As it is, Jeff and I go back and had been friends. He contributed to the MERE CREATION volume (1996) that I edited (his essay was a fine piece on altruism and the difficulties conventional evolutionary theory has in trying to account for it). I even had occasion to visit him in the hospital after he had a surfing accident.

I used to think the major obstacle to getting ID more widely accepted in the science community was its close association with young earth creationism. But you know, at least young earth creationists use scientific arguments to make their case that the creation account in Genesis is how it really happened. Even when I don’t agree with the arguments at all, which is most of the time, it’s still at least an attempt to keep the focus on science and I can respect that.

According to From Darwin to Hitler author Richard Weikart, Hitler saw World War II as a Darwinian struggle for existence, and he justified the practice of eugenics by saying that mankind had "transgressed the law of natural selection" by allowing inferior beings to survive and propagate (Mein Kampf, 1925).
