- Albrecht and Magueijo [1999]は宇宙の初期には現在より光速がはるかに最大1069倍も高速だったと仮定した。これは宇宙が一様である理由を説明するために、初期宇宙のインフレーション理論に代わる理論モデルとして提唱されたものである。現在より高速な光速はビッグバンモデルにおけるインフレーションステージに対してのみ適用されるものである。それは10-42秒ほどのことである。彼らの理論は観測によって検証されていない。
