竹内薫氏のインテリジェントデザインは「生命の起源の話」だという斬新な見方
竹内薫氏がインテリジェントデザインについて、次のようなことを書いている：
宇宙のどこかに知的設計者がいて、その知的設計者がたとえばDNAを設計して、生物を創りだしたという説なんですね。(p.161)
一方の知的設計説は、起源そのものについての話です。(p.166)
「なんらかの知的生命体が生命の種をまいた」みたいな話は、グレーゾーンの仮説としてはアリだと思うんですよ。(p.167)
起源から後の話は進化論で説明するしかないということを教えるのが、おそらくいちばんよい方法だと思います。(p.168)

ということは、Dr. Michael Beheの"還元不可能な複雑さ"に関する主張は、「生命の起源」の話しということになる。
これらが、「生命の起源の話し」というのは、斬新な見方だ。
1. What is the theory of intelligent design? The theory of intelligent design holds that certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection.
インテリジェントデザイン理論とは何か？ インテリジェントデザイン理論は、宇宙および生物のいくつかの特徴が、自然選択のような方向性のない過程ではなく、インテリジェントな原因によって最もよく説明されると考える。
2. Is intelligent design theory incompatible with evolution? It depends on what one means by the word "evolution." If one simply means "change over time," or even that living things are related by common ancestry, then there is no inherent conflict between evolutionary theory and intelligent design theory. However, the dominant theory of evolution today is neo-Darwinism, which contends that evolution is driven by natural selection acting on random mutations, an unpredictable and purposeless process that "has no discernable direction or goal, including survival of a species." (NABT Statement on Teaching Evolution). It is this specific claim made by neo-Darwinism that intelligent design theory directly challenges.
インテリジェントデザインは進化論と非互換か？それは「進化」という言葉が意味するところによる。もし進化を「時間を経ての変化」あるいはさらに「生物は共通祖先によって互いに関係を持っている、というのであれば、進化論とインテリジェントデザインに本質的な摩擦はない。しかし、今日の進化論の主流はネオダーウィニズムである。これは進化がランダムな突然変異に自然選択がはたることによって起きるというものであり、認識可能な方向性や到達線のない予測不可能かつ目的ない過程だとする。これがネオダーウィニズムにとって特別な主張であり、それに対してインテリジェントデザインは挑んでいる。
これも竹内薫氏にとっては「生命の起源の話」なのだろう。
